Getting there...how to travel to Castlerock

It is possible to reach Castlerock, Northern Ireland, by an increasing number of both air and ferry routes

Using air or sea travel from UK mainland

Arriving by sea

Northern Ireland's main ferry ports are - Belfast and Larne.

UK departure ports are - Cairnryan,  (Liverpool) Birkenhead

The main ferry companies providing these links are:
Stena Line   and  P&O Ferries

Irish Ferries and Stena provide the services  Holyhead (Wales)/ Dublin.

The Steam Packet Company provides a service from Isle of Man to Belfast.

Onward Travel

Travel from both Larne and Belfast Ports to Castlerock is approximately 60 minutes.

Arriving By Air

There are three airports within Northern Ireland providing direct connections with airports across Great Britain as well as direct international connections. The three airports are:

Belfast International Airport  (49 miles via A26 & M2)

George Best Belfast City Airport

City of Derry Airport

Onward Travel

Travel from Belfast International and Belfast George Best City Airports to Castlerock is 60 to 90 minutes,  less if travelling from Derry Airport.

Travel by Road

Using Direct Routes From Belfast Airports

For the scenic route, follow signage for the Causeway Coastal Route

From Belfast City Airport

Use the underpass from the Airport to join the Sydenham Bypass (A2) heading to Belfast. Continue on to M3 toward The North (M2)

Following signs for Coleraine, take M2, A26, M2 and A26 to Greenhall Highway/B201, Coleraine

Take A2 to Castlerock. 

(First signage to Castlerock is at Lodge Roundabout, Coleraine).

Bus and Train

Take the Airport Bus to Great Victoria Street Train & Bus Station for onward travel using Translink bus or rail service to Castlerock including to Castlerock Railway Station.

From Belfast International Airport

Follow road signs for Antrim/Ballymena when leaving the Airport (Antrim Road, Dublin Road, A26).

Following signs for Coleraine continue on A26, M2, A26 to Greenhall Highway/B201, Coleraine

Take A2 to Castlerock. 

(First signage to Castlerock is at Lodge Roundabout, Coleraine).

Bus and Train

Take the Airport Bus to Antrim Bus and Rail Station. Translink UK operates a train from Antrim to Castlerock hourly and the journey takes 1h 4m. Alternatively, Translink UK operates a bus from Antrim Bus Center to Coleraine hourly and the journey takes 1h 10m.

Directions
to
Carraig Lodge

Coming from Coleraine using the A2 road, follow the road signs for Castlerock.

Turn right from A2 to approach Castlerock via Sea Road.

Once inside the 30mph speed restriction, take the first road to the left, Belvedere Park  (Carraig Lodge will now be facing you with a teal blue front door). 

To access the entrance, turn left at the T-junction, then immediate right into the driveway.
